            Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a well-liked vacation destination for many looking for a break from the quick and speedy world.  The city rests on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean along a 60-mile crescent of beach, in the state of South Carolina.  Over the past 25 years, Myrtle Beach has developed into one of the top resort destinations.  The city is home to around 25,000 permanent resident who greet millions of vacation-goers each year.

            The weather in Myrtle Beach is very favorable to vacationers year-round.  The Ocean temperature is about 20 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than that of New York during the summer months and 10 degrees warmer during the winter months.  This is due in part to the Gulf Stream.  In December, the average water temperature is 55 degrees Fahrenheit.  In June the average water temperature is 77 degrees Fahrenheit.  The air temperature in December averages around 60 degrees Fahrenheit and in June it’s 88 degrees.  There are on average 215 sunny days of the year.  All this information was compiled from 30 years of data.  So you can see Myrtle Beach is just what the doctor ordered.

            To ensure ocean quality, the community has teamed up with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to develop a voluntary summer-long water-testing program.  Twenty sites have been set up along the coastline, meeting EPA standards.

Want to cool off?  Take the family to Myrtle Waves Water Park.  Located at the Water Park are rides for all ages, 30 to be exact.  There’s even a children’s area with award-wining lifeguards to keep you, and your family safe.  Aside from the parks and malls you’ll find Theatres, including an IMAX theater, special attractions, events/festivals, boating and water sports, Museums, fishing piers, and more. The nightlife at Myrtle Beach is filled with electrifying lights, brilliant music, and pulsating productions.
